Well – here we are at the starting gates of 2017!! So far, the New Year has been good to me and my little family. Was able to ring in 2017 with my hubby, my brother, and sister-in-law. My Mom watched all the kids and we went out in the big city for a very nice meal and some fun. I made it to midnight and then some – for the first time in a long time!! We got back home to Machias today and even though I’m not 100% excited to go back to work – I’m excited to get back to seeing my school kids and closing out the semester. I love the idea of a new year – as cliche as it sounds – it really is a fresh start.
Speaking of fresh start – here are my goals for January. I have kept some of the same ones because I really feel they are important for me to focus on. These would be goals 1 through 3. I really like the challenge of taking the daily steps and I know for a fact that I did not drink enough water over break….so, more water it is!
Goal number 4 comes from getting sick over vacation. I really need to give my body the rest that it needs. Taking a day off from exercising really sounds easy but for me it will be a challenge. I really don’t like to skip because exercising makes me feel good! It is how I relax now. That being said – it is so important to rest your body. I am really going to have to work to be OK with this goal…but I have realized that it’s just not worth wearing yourself totally out.
Even though I want to take a day off from cardio/exercising – I really want to add another weight training day to my week. I can do that and still take a day off. I’ve been working out with Chad once a week and I love it. I am going to do it on my own at the gym at my school. It’s great working with a trainer because of the accountability but I know that I can do it by myself as well. Aside from all the benefits of weight training – I know that it will also help to change the shape of my body.
Goal number 6 is so important for me – I really need to believe that I can maintain. It has really been scary. I’ve been here (well – not having lost this much weight) so many times before and so many times I have not been able to do it. I really need to believe in myself and know that I can do this. I know that I can – I just need to follow my plan and stay active.
Finally – goal number 7 – only one cup of coffee a day!! I really don’t drink much coffee but I had been having two cups a day. I only use a little bit of creamer and no sugar or sugar sub. I’m not downing coffee drinks with hundreds of calories…but I just don’t think it’s necessary to have more than one cup. Coffee can dehydrate and I really don’t need any more help NOT getting my water in! I have been taking one to school with me in the mornings and then having one in the evening. The caffeine doesn’t really bother in at night – but it will be good to swipe that coffee out of water in the evening.
I am looking forward to taking on January.
