What is to come…

I am so overwhelmed with the response to my first blog post.  I have to say – throughout this journey there have been so many people that have supported me.  I am so very appreciative to all of you out there who take the time to read my post and comment.  I hope that you will continue to do so!

I wanted to take a moment to sort of outline what is to come with this  blog of mine.  I have lots of big ideas and hope that this will become a space for people to find help, inspiration, and useful pieces of information for their own personal journey.  My goal is to up date the blog once a week.  Of course, there will be times when I can post more, and I am sure there will be times when I struggle to get that one weekly post on!  I am a full time mother and teacher.  My husband coaches two varsity sports back to back  – my time for breathing is limited – let alone time to sit down and write!  I have made it a goal and scheduled it in though, so be on the look out for weekly posts!

Picking up my big girl – today was her first day of First Grade!!  Notice how awesome her Wonder Woman back pack is…

On my early morning run today, I figured out what direction I want to go in.  This blog will focus on four major parts of my journey: SELF, STYLE, FOOD, and FITNESS.

SELF: Self will look at me!  Who I am, my motivations, the way I do things and why.  I will focus on the mental part of this journey – how this has changed over time.  I will try to capture what works for me and what isn’t helping as I try to reach my goals.

STYLE: Style will look at my outward transformation – including, but not limited to – clothing, accessories, makeup, and generally taking care of yourself. It has taken me a while to realize that even though my body is changing and I am taking care of it that I am enjoying things that I did not before – trying on clothes, for example.  I never worried or thought about putting on makeup to leave the house or even doing my hair.  I’ve come a long way!

FOOD: Pretty much this theme will cover what I’m eating and not eating – what I want to eat and hacks that help me to think I’m enjoying those things!!  Food has always, always been a battle for me.  Now it is less of a battle and more of an opportunity to increase my own and my family’s health.  I will be totally honest here – I am not on the wagon 100% of the time – who is??  I am human and I have cravings and sometimes I indulge.  However, I am indulging on healthier things now and that makes me proud.  Look for recipes and photo food journals of my weekly meals.

FITNESS: Exercise as always been the hardest part of the weight loss journey for me.  Being motivated to do something everyday had been a big chore.  Right now, this is not where I find myself.  I find myself wanting to move and do something.  I feel strong when I exercise.  This topic will explore what I do for exercise – again what is working and what is not working.  I run, take fitness classes of all types, swim, and hit up the gym.  I also will explore what is out there for me to keep my body moving.  I am worried about what the winter months will bring…it is cold FREEZING in Maine and it snows a lot!!

I hope that you will come back later this week and check out a new post.  I am not sure what I will be covering yet – but I am working on a couple of things!!  Anytime there is something that you would like to see covered – please do not hesitate or comment or shoot me a message!!  As always, thank you for stopping by!!

You can do whatever you put your mind to and I know that you can do it and be successful!! Just take a breath and make up your mind to start….the first step is really the hardest. I didn’t realize how true that old saying was until I was faced with it!!! Love you too!!

I’m on board! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about this journey. You’ve inspired me to make one change: I’m walking every day. I just started September 1st, but I’m committed to doing it and slowly increasing my distance. Thanks again for sharing this, Mathy.
